California has many laws that provide job protection to new moms and dads. It is illegal to harass or take any adverse action against an employee because of pregnancy. It is also illegal to discriminate or retaliate against an employee because they request or take a job-protected leave of absence.
A job-protected leave of absence means an employer is required by law to return an employee to their same (or comparable) position when they return from that leave.
